Turning Struggle into Strength: The Journey Behind Data Scientist Builder

In 2011, I began my career in an international organization—Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA)—as a Data Management Assistant. My first challenge? Learning CSPro software for data entry, management, and analysis. Coming from a non-technical background, I found it incredibly difficult. 

I searched for training and support, but quickly discovered that there were no structured, professional resources available for learning data management tools in Bangladesh.

Then, in 2012, a new challenge emerged—digital data collection. Tools like SurveyCTO were gaining popularity. Once again, I found myself stuck: no proper guidance, no accessible training, and no local support to help me grow. 

Over the next 14 years, I worked across national and international organizations, led hundreds of research assistants, trained thousands of field staff, and built end-to-end data systems. And yet, every time a new technology appeared, I had to struggle and teach myself—often alone, with scattered resources and no clear roadmap. 

Fast forward to 2025. Technology evolves faster than ever. Yes, thousands of tutorials are available online—but most are poorly designed, unstructured, and lack professional depth. They rarely address the real-world challenges that researchers and data professionals face, especially in developing contexts.
